Murray Bridge Speedways news.

Tonight’s running of the Valvoline Australian Sprintcar Grand Prix has been postponed due to rain and will be conducted tomorrow night, Sunday December 27.

Heavy showers hammered the Valvoline Raceway venue from 2pm today (as the weather forecast predicted) and no immediate cessation was evident for the track and spectator facilities to dry before competition tonight.

“There are several factors to consider when you have rain,” says Valvoline Raceway MD Steven Green, “one of course is the track surface, one is the working conditions in the pits for our teams and our officials and the other is the comfort and safety of our spectators. When you have showers like this you end up with wet seats, wet grass hills and it becomes very unpleasant for everyone.

The number one priority for Valvoline Raceway is the comfort and the safety of our teams and spectators and in this case we’re better off starting all over again tomorrow night.”

SUNDAY NIGHT, DECEMBER 27 is now the date for the Valvoline Australian Sprintcar Grand Prix featuring Ultimate Sprintcars, Legend Cars and AMCA Nationals.

Gates open at 2pm, qualifying commences at 5.50pm.
